Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S Windows Tablet

Samsung has recently launched the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S Windows 10 tablet. This tablet pretty much goes up against the likes of the Surface Pro 3 and the Surface Pro 4 tablets from Microsoft.

Samsung just like the other manufacturers out there are trying their best to manufacture the best Windows tablet on the planet. It seems that with every new release of a Windows hardware platform, manufacturers are getting closer and closer to making the ultimate portable Windows machine.

So, let’s look at the specifications of Samsung’s latest tablet.

The multi touch capacitive touch screen is a 12 inch AMOLED display with a pixel resolution of 2160 x 1400 pixels.

Now the Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S also packs quite a bit of processing horsepower with main processor (CPU) being a 2.2 GHz Intel Core M3 – 6130 processor. The tablet also comes with 4 gigabytes of DDR3 SDRAM running at 1600 MHz and there’s also a graphics processor (GPU) which is a 128 megabyte Intel HD Graphics 515 Chipset.

The Galaxy Tab Pro S comes with 128 gigabytes of SSD storage for all of your multimedia and other files.

From a connectivity standpoint the Galaxy Tab Pro S does come with built-in Wi-Fi 802.11 AC as well as Bluetooth 4.0 Wireless connectivity.  The tablet comes with Windows 10 home (64-bit version) pre-installed.

One area where Samsung’s newest Windows tablet definitely outshines Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is in the sheer weight. The Tab Pro S only weighs about 1.52 pounds when compared to the much heavier Surface Pro 4 which weighs 1.76 pounds.

One of my pet peeves is the fact that the Intel Core M processor could have been replaced with something a bit faster but what I am impressed with the quality of the AMOLED screen and even more so the fact that the battery life on the Samsung Tab Pro S is very remarkable indeed.

So I would actually give this 9 out of 10 simply because you have a huge screen with a gorgeous AMOLED display with a battery that can run for hours and even more so the fact that this thing only weighs a mere one and a half pounds.

The external keyboard that comes with the Samsung Tab Pro S did not impress me that much because I found the keys were too close together.  As a result, my typing experience wasn’t that great when compared to the keyboard that you can get for the Surface Pro 4 where there is much more spacing between the keys so it made typing way easier.

One area where the Samsung Tab Pro S fell behind when compared to its Surface Pro rivals was the fact that there was no kickstand. The Tab Pro S pretty much has only two viewing angles, seeing that it relies on the keyboard cover as a tablet stand that can only give two viewing angles: namely a near upright position and nearly lying down with a few inches of clearance from the table top. The Surface Pro 3 and Surface Pro 4 tablets from Microsoft have a special built-in kickstand that can pretty much be adjusted to any comfortable viewing angle.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro S retails for about $899 and you can get them from Amazon right here.
