The Gears of War 4 Collector’s Edition is slated to be released later this year on October 11th. If you are a fan of the franchise you can pre-order your very own Gears of War 4 Collector’s Edition which will give you access to a ton of cool stuff. Here is what you get:
- You pretty much get a front row seat to the action by being allowed early access to playing the game a couple of days before the game is released to the world. October 7th is the day that you will get access.
- There is a Gears of War 4 lithograph that comes bundled as well.
- One of my personal favorites – you get your very own JD Fenix on his bike figurine which measures in at about 11 inches long. You can checkout my video below where I got a glimpse of the JD Fenix statue at the E3 Conference in Los Angeles during the summer.
- A Steelbook and frag grenade key chain to add to your Gears of War geek toys collection.
- Gears of War 4 season pass.
Last but not least you will also get the actual game disk itself in the overall bundle.
When you get the season pass, there are a ton of goodies that you have at your disposal. First of all there is an exclusive Vintage VIP Pack as well as 6 Gear Packs. There is also a VIP playlist and you also get your hands on an unlimited map which is pretty cool indeed.
When you play in multiplayer and co-op mode , with the Season Pass in hand you will get access to the JD Vintage character, Vintage Gnasher and Dropshot weapon skins. You will also be able to preview newly released maps and new game modes.
Within the Gear game packs themselves you will also get additional Gears of War 4 characters and weapon skins.
By the way, in order to enjoy the full benefits of the season pass you will need to have the Gears of War 4 game itself as well as be an active member of XBOX Live Gold. You will also need to have Internet access from your man or woman cave as well.
After playing the first three Gears of War on the XBOX 360 – Gears of War 1 came out for the XBOX 360 back in November 7th 2006 – I was thrilled when I heard that there was to be a fourth installment available this year on the XBOX 1. If you are not familiar with the story line I can bring you up to speed quite quickly.
In short, Marcus Fenix, a soldier from the Coalition of Ordered Governments led a small team of soldiers who fought against the alien Locust Horde and Lambert forces to save humanity and the world. That story was spread over the first three Gears of War installments that came out for the XBOX 360 as well as the PC platforms.
Twenty five years later, Marcus’ son, JD Fenix now has to continue in his father’s footsteps as he now has a new battle on his hands to win. This is where Gears of War 4 comes into play. Sweet!
In this new installment of the Gears of War franchise there have been a number of improvements such as the following.
- You can play in 2 player co-op mode where the monitor or TV shows the game in split screen mode where you can see all the action as you blast away at those pesky alien forces. You can play either the Del or Kait character as the second player.
- There are also combat-knife executions and an array of new weaponry.
- If you are into high energy multiplayer game modes then you will be in for a treat with Gears of War 4. The good folks at Microsoft have powerful game servers that manage the online game play when you compete against others and there is also a new real time ranking system which makes for fairer matchmaking between players.
The Gears of War 4 Collector’s edition is for the true hardcore fan who has a couple of bucks to spend. The Collector’s Edition will set you back by about $249 and the Ultimate Edition will cost $99.99. If you are reading this and it is not yet October you can still at least pre-order your very own copy here. You can also checkout my YouTube video below where the Collector’s Edition swag is on show at the E3 Conference in Los Angeles. Enjoy.
