If you are here and you want to learn how to install Amazon Alexa on your Samsung TU8000 smart TV, then you are in the right place. So let’s see what is involved to get setup.
First, as a prerequisite, you have to have an existing Amazon account as well as ensure that your television is already connected to the Internet via your home Wi-Fi. Now let’s go through the steps.
Step 1 – Press the home button on your remote.
Step 2 – Select the Alexa application from your list on installed apps on your Samsung TU8000 smart tv.
Step 3 – You get the Alexa welcome screen and there is a “Get Started” button that you must select.
Step 4 – Let’s connect your TV to your Amazon account.
There are two ways to connect your Amazon account. The first way is by opening the camera application on your smartphone and pointing it at the QR code.
The other way is by visiting amazon.com/ca/code on your phone or PC and enter the code that is shown. Depending on which country you live in the URL will be different, so simply follow the URL that is displayed on your TV screen. Also note that the code refreshes every two minutes.
Let us now focus on the first option which uses a QR code. When you open your camera app and point it at the QR code a pop up window comes up on your phone in your camera application saying “Tap here to go to amazon.com” in your browser.
On your smartphone you are greeted with a one-page document that states that Samsung-TV-Alexa would like to access to your Amazon profile. Simply click the “allow” button to continue. You will then see a “You Are Registered” page come up on your smartphone as well as a “You Are Connected!” message come up on your Samsung TU8000 smart TV.
Next, use your Samsung remote control to test that Alexa can hear you okay. Press and hold the button that has the microphone icon on it. Next, say “Alexa” to have Alexa hear you on this device. Now let’s see if she is as smart as she sounds. Try asking “Alexa, what’s the weather like in Los Angeles?” and voila, you get Alexa to respond to any question you throw at her. Congratulations, you are now setup!
Now let’s look at the other method which involves using your PC or phone to go directly to Amazon’s website.
Once again, repeat the first three steps that was outlined above in the first setup option. Next, select the “Get started” option on the TV screen. Then follow the instructions on the right side on the screen that instructs you to visit amazon.com/ca/code keeping in mind that you should use the URL that you see on your TV as it will vary depending on the country that you live in. You will be prompted to log into your Amazon account, so go ahead and enter your login credentials.
Once you are on the website simply enter the code that you see on your TV. For added security the code is updated every 10 minutes.
Once the code has been entered successfully you see a “You are connected!” on the Samsung TU8000 screen as well as a “Success! Your registration is complete.”
Go ahead and test that Alexa is setup correctly by pressing and holding down the microphone button on your TV remote and asking Alexa any question like “Alexa, will it rain tomorrow?” If she gives you the answer that you were looking for, I think that it is safe to say that the Alexa setup on your Samsung TU8000 smart TV is now complete! Now you know how to install Amazon Alexa!
