The HVR Mini Drone may possibly be the smallest radio controlled drone on the market today that has the additional capability of being able to record pictures and video. This makes the perfect gift for beginners and radio controlled model hobbyists alike.
The HVR Mini Drone is a little bit larger than an American quarter. Like most drones, of similar design – in other words, a four propeller design – they are very easy to fly after a little practice. The drone comes ready to fly, with no assembly necessary. You simply take it out of the box, charge it as well as put three (3) AAA batteries into the radio controller and you are ready to fly. That simple.
The HVR Mini drone retails for about $49.95 and it comes with the following hardware:
- The radio control unit (requires three (3) AAA penlight batteries.
- A USB charging cable – needed to charge the built-in mini rechargeable battery inside the drone.
- The smallest video drone in the world – the HVR Mini drone.
- A 4GB memory card and card reader.
- Additional replacement propellers and mini tool.
- Setup and maintenance instructions.
The HVR Mini drone can take still pictures in addition to video clips which can be played on your computer using the popular VLC media player application. There is a small slot on the drone itself where you would insert the 4 GB microSD card (included) that would store your recorded video and pictures. The USB card reader can then be used to transfer your recorded data from the microSD card onto your laptop or PC.
Charging the drone takes about 20 minutes and flying time is about just over 5 minutes, which should be ample time for you to enjoy flying this thing and recording video.
There is a single button on the main controller that is simply pressed when you want to start and stop recording.
Seeing that there are small parts that come with the drone it is recommended that this product be for older children (maybe 8 and higher).
The mini drone is also quite robust too, being able to sustain many a crash landing as you learn to pilot and fly this thing comfortably in your living room. Also, you need not worry that you cannot see your drone during flight in poor lighting conditions as the HVR drone is fitted with flashing LED lights that operate pretty well during flight.

Dear Red Tech,
Is it possible to share, or send me to who can provide an electronic version of the user guide for this? Specific question, is how to re-calibrate the settings.
