The Maisto Monster Drift RC Car 1:24 Electric model car is a ready to run unit that can be driven straight out of the box. The radio controlled model comes with a transmitter that controls the car with full functionality. The control can make the car go forwards, backwards as well as turn left and right.
This little racing model is deceptively fast and since the wheels are made of solid plastic this car can actually drift, and drifting is what it does well. Initially it would take the novice user a couple of minutes to master the art of drifting the 1:24 scale model on their mother’s newly waxed hardwood floors but once you get the hang of driving and drifting the Maisto Monster Drift RC car it can provide you with hours of fun.
Don’t be deceived by the fact that it is rated for use by children – adults (such as myself) love driving this little floor rocket. Regarding batteries, four (4) AAA penlight batteries occupy a small battery compartment inside the car itself and a rectangular shaped 9 Volt battery is needed to power the wireless controller.
I must say that it did take me a minute or two to figure out how to get the batteries into the car. You actually have to remove the cover and then undo two clips to get access. Seeing that this model is rated for use by children, the fact that it takes some effort to get access to the batteries is a good safety feature.
Other points to note, the Maisto Monster Drift RC Car has a four wheel drive drive-train and is powered by a mini but very powerful electric motor (brushed) and also makes a very nice model car that can be put on show on your desk when not in use. For such a low priced toy I must say that the amount of detail that has gone into the vehicle is quite impressive indeed. My favorite features are the white rally looking rims and also has a low profile look of a typical rally car.
The car measures in at 7 inches in length, 2.75 inches wide and stands at a mere stocky 2 inches. Finally, these little cars are very affordable too retailing at an MSRP of about thirty to forty bucks.
